When CONTINENTAL and AUTOBILD SPORTSCARS invite you to the Papenburg 3000 event, we certainly won't miss the opportunity to challenge for records with our latest model.
The German tuning elite met for the third time on the 3,000-meter Papenburg circuit, one of the largest test tracks in Europe. Five more famous German tuners started with us: AC Schnitzer, MTM, Techart, 9FF and Klasen Motors. The goal is to find out what speed you can reach at a distance of 3000 meters.
Feature: There are no rules other than the standing start specification and specified tire selection for the Continental Sport-Contact 6.
In 2009, we set the world speed record for a street SUV with our 750 hp GLK V12 at a proud 322.3 km/h – at Nardo at the time. Reason enough to launch our latest model before the world premiere: the BRABUS 900 ROCKET EDITION based on the Mercedes-AMG GLE 63S 4 MATIC + Coupé.
SUV vs sports car competition? Definitely a challenge. When the working volume is increased from 4 to 4.5 liters, the Rocket develops a speed of 900 horsepower and 1250 Newton meters. We put our 2009 record-breaking pilot, Dirk Berkenkopf, in the cockpit to give the Rocketship a commanding experience even at high speeds. When asked how the sprint went, Berkenkopf said: “Totally relaxed with the massage function in the seat. Joking aside, the drive is gigantic, it just doesn't stop."
Result? 324.71 km/h and therefore the fastest SUV in the world, or as Guido Naumann of AUTO BILD SPORTSCARS writes: "BRABUS once again demonstrated its ability to speed and broke the wall block through the oval at an incredible speed of 324 km/h".
